Having met Mani and his friends in Kaokoveld Namibia, our three kids asked: How can we contribute, to make the world a better place for all of us?
Well, how to discuss this with kids? At least for us, let’s try to break it down.
- Civil registration, providing a record of the existence of a person is not universal and not complete in all countries in the world.
- To address this, ‘Target 16.9 – legal identity for all’ was established within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Legal identity has a critical role to ensure the global community upholds its promise of leaving no one behind as espoused in the 2030 Agenda, cp. concept note developed by the UN Legal Identity Expert Group.
So, we’ve thought about an ID, cheap to produce, that can be presented and verified everywhere, online and offline. For people with limited infrastructure access.
Like a printable, tamper-proof ID inside a 2D barcode – just like JABface, our contribution to an Earth4All.
And maybe someday not only Mani but also his friends will have the privilege to go to school. Leaving no one behind.
